Description

Ellen G. White, a spiritual leader of the Seventh-day church and one of the founders of Oakwood Industrial school faithfully supported the Huntsville project with pen, voice, and finances.

It was the writings of Ellen White that prompted the attention of leaders within the church, regarding the plight of recently emancipated black people that inspired the beginnings of a widespread mission enterprise in the South.
