Mary McBee on of the first of sixteen students who enrolled at Oakwood Industrial School on opening day, November 16, 1896. Mary McBee later became Mrs. Mary McBee Thompson. She married Samuel J. Thompson one of the first of sixteen students who also enrolled at Oakwood Industrial school. From this union, they had three children.
