Description

The "Old Mansion" former residence of the slave plantation owner. Used as living quarters for Oakwood's staff of four and for the first eight female students.

Founded on a small farm, with 360 acres, and 65 oak trees. Four buildings plus nine slave cabins. A principal, three teachers, sixteen students. November 16, 1896. Oakwood was born.
