Nanocomposite Detectors of Short-Wavelength Radiation-Faculty Research Symposium 2023
Description
Existing UV sensors have good sensitivity but use vacuum photo-multiplying tubes, which are not mechanically strong. Solid state photodetectors are either blind to UV (based on silicon) or have low sensitivity (based on wide bandgap semiconductors). We report on our efforts to develop polymer nanocomposites made of the nanoparticles of pure and lanthanide doped perovskites CsPbX3 (X stands for Cl, Br, and I) that captured UV photons and efficiently converted their energy into visible and near-infrared photons.
